Tanni Grey Thompson OBE is probably the most famous athletes with disabilities, representing Britain at a distance of 100m to 800m. She won 14 medals, including nine Paralympic gold, and she was broken up more than 20 tracks. She has also won five London Marathon as a wheelchair athlete and became a TV presenter.

Itzhak Perlman is the Israeli-American violinist, conductor and teacher. He is a renowned musician who contracted polio at the age of four and now uses crutches or a wheelchair and plays the violin while seated. In 1986 he received the Medal of Freedom from President Reagan. He is also an advocate for people with disabilities and promotes laws to allow easier access to buildings and transport.

Helen Keller was an American author, political activist and lecturer who was blind, deaf and dumb. She was the first deaf and blind person to be awarded a Bachelor of Arts degree.
